The Chamber of Commerce wants to continue to bring special recognition to Orleans County businesses that have put in an extra effort for the community. That’s why the Chamber is bringing back the “ambush,” the chamber Ambassadors Club’s way to recognize one business in the county every two months.

With balloons, treats and a sign, several members of the chamber’s board of directors walked into Arnold’s Auto Parts in Albion on Wednesday to thank the owner for all he does.

The chamber’s interim executive director, Kevin Lake, said that owner Dan DeCarlo has gotten involved with the community, volunteered and taken many steps to make his business survive in this community.

“He wears his business on his sleeve,” Lake said. “We wanted to thank him.”

With a surprised look across his face, DeCarlo thanked chamber members.

“I didn’t know anything about it,” he said. “We don’t do it to be recognized, but it is nice.”

DeCarlo said he enjoys participating and being involved in events because not only are they fun, but they promote the downtown area.

Arnold’s Auto Parts celebrated its 40th year in business in 2008. The store employees 14 people.

Also attending the ambush was prior recipient Lisa Trippensee. In August, Apple Blossom Florist was the first business to be ambushed since the Ambassadors Club restarted the program.

“I got a significant amount of people in the store asking what the ambush is about,” Trippensee said of attracting new business. “I want to thank the chamber for having a wonderful recognition program.”

Arnold’s Auto Parts will now display the ambush sign for the next two months.
