About GO ART Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council

Established in 1962 and then branded the Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council (GO ART!) in 1992, GO ART! is a nonprofit organization, which believes that art and culture enriches, inspires and educates, while strengthening a community’s identity. Therefore, GO ART! initiates a broad range of opportunities for artists and cultural organizations and facilitates cooperative efforts among the cultural, business, service, and educational communities for the people who live in and visit Genesee and Orleans Counties.  GO ART! also runs the Decentralization Regrant program in Genesee and Orleans Counties. The program is funded statewide – in all 62 counties, and funds are regranted by local arts agencies through a transparent peer panel funding process.  An organization or individual with a fiscal agent that meets NYSCA (New York State Council on the Arts) and GO ART! criteria may request regrant funds.  Through the Decentralization Program (also known as the DEC Program), GO ART!, NYSCA and the New York State Legislature hope to extend, upgrade and increase the arts and cultural programming in Genesee and Orleans Counties. The goal is to make state arts support available to geographically, economically, and ethnically diverse segments of the state’s population.

Our MISSION
The Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council (a.k.a. GO ART!) is dedicated to developing the cultural life in Genesee and Orleans Counties by facilitating the creation, presentation and experience of the arts, heritage and traditions.

Our VISION
GO ART! will be the vital community resource for promoting the value of the arts and culture as integral to our daily lives.
